There has been a recurring theme playing in my head for some time now – “you need a vacation!” An extended weekend where I commit to no work (maybe just a few urgent emails), no blogging (of course, there will be shopping for inspiration), and no stress (I can try, right?). So, finally, for labor day weekend, we are headed to San Francisco! The itinerary? To sleep long and late and plan the trip as we go. There are so many wonderful things to do in SF, we cannot go wrong. I am one of those people who can only truly relax when I am out of town on vacation. So, I plan to take full advantage!
My first thought, of course, was, what shall I bring to wear? With it still being 90 degrees in Texas, it is hard to imagine dressing for the cool, fall weather that I have been dying for. Here are some outfits I am loving for a fall weekend getaway! Whether you are getting out of town for labor day weekend, or just relaxing at home, I hope you get to take a break, check out, and just let loose. Of course, it does not hurt to be stylish while you are at it. Happy a wonderful labor day weekend! ♥ L

The collar look is all the rage right now, and I, for one, am jumping on the bandwagon. A little skeptical of this trendy look at first, I am now convinced that collars are an easy way to add a bit of style and sophistication to your work ensemble. Collars instantly dress up a simple crewneck sweater or a classic button-up blouse. Just pop the collar over your staple piece and, bam, you have a whole new look! Style the look yourself with these fabulous collar accessories, or buy a piece with a little bling on the neck. Here are a few of my favorites – all workweek-ready!

I am a sucker for feminine detail. If it has bows, pearls, lace, pleats, etc., I am in fashion heaven. Bows make a particularly charming impression and are showing up everywhere in fall fashions. Whether subtlety placed on a button, or proudly displayed atop the shoulder, bows are making quite the statement this fall. In the professional world, bows are a perfect way to feminize an otherwise androgynous piece. I love the idea of adding a bow to a classic blazer, tying up a gorgeous silk blouse, dressing up a pump with a bow accessory, or buttoning up with bow-detail buttons to add a ladylike touch. Here are some of my favorite bow-detail pieces. Want to stand out amongst the boys? Dare to be with the girl with the bow!

My absolute favorite thing about fall? Wearing boots! I must admit, I tend to be relentless when it comes to boot shopping. Maybe it is because I am short, making boot shopping particularly difficult, or maybe it is because the increased surface area makes the boot a more critical part of your outfit than the everyday pump. But, when it comes to boot shopping, if it is not the right color, cut, material, heel height, shaft height, etc., the boot does not make the list. With this post, I bring you the benefit of my relentless boot shopping. I have scoured the selections to find the boots that not only make the cut, but in my opinion, steal the show. These are my absolute favorites for fall, leaving out only a few designer loves to spare our pocket boots (ok, for fun, just a few here, here, here, here, here, and here). A quality pair of boots is an investment, so it is important to weigh your options and pick the pair you cannot live without. Time to go boot shopping! Happy weekend! ♥ L
Alice + Olivia Suede Skirt paired with from left Cropped Tee and Peplum Top
This fabulous Alice + Olivia skirt caught my eye and instantly made it to the top of my fall wish-list! The combination of the rich, burnt orange color and the luxurious suede material is striking, making this a worthy investment piece! Thanks to the classic cut and minimal details, this skirt is extremely versatile and can easily transition from the workweek to weekend-wear. For the office, pair with brights to show off your playful side, or add a simple, black top for a more sophisticated look. For the weekend, I’m loving this skirt with a casual tee or chunky sweater and ankle booties. Check out other suede favorites here, here, here, and here. Have a great Wednesday!
