You know how it goes. You have an after-work function that necessitates a fabulous look, but you won’t have an opportunity to change after work. You need one look that is both office-appropriate and will still turn heads in the evening. Enter 4.collective.
4.collective is a new to me clothing line that is made for us working women. 4.collective describes itself as a “contemporary desk-to-dinner clothing line that helps women make an easy and stylish transition from day to evening.” The four anonymous women designers have hit the mark with their line, making life a little easier for the on-the-go professional woman.
At the office, these dresses work by themselves or paired with a blazer. After-hours, slip on some stilettos and add a statement necklace to perfect the look. No one will ever guess you just came from work!
Have a great week!

Short Suits
I have to say, when I first heard the idea of short suits, I was convinced that style was reserved for supermodels and serious fashionistas. I just could not get on board with the idea of wearing a professional blazer with my reserved-for-weekends shorts. Then, I saw short suits on some of my favorite bloggers and the styles by some of my favorite designers, and my whole perspective changed. As a lawyer, wearing a short suit to work is absolutely out of the question. But, for some of you more creative types, a short suit might be just the thing at the office.
Short suits are a big trend for spring. Even if I cannot get away with it at the office, I am now convinced this is a look worth rocking on the weekends!

Catchin’ My Eye + Fashion Truths

While I was in trial, I had some people watching opportunities and was reminded of some fashion truths:
- Having a big name in your professional field does not give you a free pass on style. No matter what your credentials, if you do not look put together and polished, people are less likely to hear what you have to say.
- A red suit and leopard heels, if done right, is a powerful combination.
- A colored blazer is always a good idea (well-done juror no. 4).
- When you are going to be standing, running, and/or lifting heavy objects throughout the workday (gotta love being an associate), wear a thicker heel or, better yet, wedges.
- Please please visit your neighborhood tailor. All ill-fitting suit, whether too big or too small, is an automatic turnoff.
- A dash of lip gloss and perfume goes a long way towards making a woman feel beautiful.
Basically, after seeing some serious fashion disasters over the course of my two weeks in trial, I became even more passionate about this blog and sharing fashion with working women. Thanks for following along :)

Hi guys! I am thrilled to be back on P&P! Without boring you with all the details, the trial took two weeks as expected (a very long two weeks), it went well for us, and I could not be more excited to be back talking fashion with you all.
After wearing tons of black, gray, and navy over the past two weeks, all I could think about was COLOR! Oh how I have missed all of the bright pieces in my closet. As I get back into the swing of things at work and life, here are some of the bright and colorful combinations I am swooning over. Have a great Monday!

Timeout
As much I as hate to take time away from the blog, the time has come for me to take a little timeout. Today, I start a trial that is going to require my full attention (and even my tired, stressed out, exhausted attention when that is all I have left). Trial is pretty much the ultimate experience for a lawyer, but it also takes virtually everything out of you. I love sharing fashion and style with you guys each week, but the day job has to come first. So, I have to be all business for the next couple of weeks, although sadly I do not have the liberty in court to be as chic as these ladies.
I’ll be away for 1-2 weeks and back sooner if something unexpected happens. I am looking forward to coming back with fresh material and a new focus. After being conservative-suit and closed-toe shoes clad for days on end, I will be dying to turn my attention back to fashion, trends, and all things fabulous.
So, thank you in advance for your patience. See you on the other side!
