Moving On and Thank You

movingon2Happy Monday everyone! First, let me explain my two-week absence. I took a week off to move, which was much needed considering I basically packed my old place in 1 day and unpacked my new place in 2 days. I hate living in boxes and dust, so it was definitely better for me to cram it in over a long weekend and just get it done. Sassy and I love the new place!

I was planning to be back up and running after that, but I unexpectedly ran into some problems with the cable company. Long story short, I am on my second cable company and am still without cable or internet eight days after I moved in. I was planning to go to a coffee shop to post, but I was literally meeting (or planning to meet until they did not show up) a different cable technician every day last week. This post is finally being brought to you from Starbucks, and hopefully tomorrow is the day I am able to rejoin the universe. I have a new appreciation for the internet and cannot wait to get caught up on Scandal and Game of Thrones!

In the past couple of months, I have had a lot of change in my life. Change is hard. And it has made me rethink a lot of things in my life. I have really enjoyed blogging over the last couple of years. It has been a wonderful creative outlet for me away from the daily practice of law. I have learned a lot about myself, about the blogging business, and about the fashion industry. I have made great connections.  I have seen my personal style evolve, and I hope I have helped to inspire your personal style as well.

But, it is has come time for me to move on from the blog. The main reason is time. My job is full, full time. I blog on the weekends and in the evenings, but sometimes my job requires me to work then too. Between my day job and blogging, I felt like I was spending all of my time behind the computer. Believe it or not, being a lawyer requires a lot of desk time. And now that I have Sassy, I want to spend my free time with her. I never knew that you could love a dog so much, but that little pup has stolen my heart. I love that having a dog has shifted my focus to being outside as much as possible, to meeting friends for play dates, and to walking around and discovering new spots in my neighborhood.

And the second reason is, this blog made me want to buy, buy, buy. When you spend a significant part of your week looking at pieces online and styling looks, it makes you want to buy the pieces or shop the sale for yourself. It is the same reason I could never work at a cupcake store. I love fashion and I truly believe it is an important expression of who you are, in both your personal and professional life. But, the reality is, I cannot afford to buy new clothes every week. And when I do buy new things, it is usually on sale, with an additional discount. Now that I have a new place with more room, my money is going towards furniture and decorating. And let me tell you, having a dog is wonderful, but it is not cheap. So, while I love to look at beautiful pieces and find inspiration for looks, I did not like that this blog made me feel like I needed to constantly have something new to keep up. I am sure a lot of other bloggers are more balanced with it, but it was hard for me.

So, there you have it. I am definitely sad to leave the blog behind, but I think it is the right thing for me as I start a new chapter in my life. I cannot tell you how much it means to me that each and every one of you visited my blog. I hope you will continue to follow along on Pinterest and Instagram. I also started a Tumblr page where I will continue to post looks and pieces that inspire me. It will be primarily workwear focused as I continue to believe professional wear needs more attention in the blogging world. But I will also throw in weekend looks and home design as I find inspiration for the new place. I may even style looks from time to time, but this site will allow me to do so on a more flexible basis. I hope you will continue to follow along as we all strive to balance everything in this crazy life, all while looking fabulous :)

Be All There

Between traveling for work, new adventures with the puppy, and moving (I have not even started packing :/), my mind is elsewhere this week. So, I am going to take a few days away from the blog. Hope you all have a wonderful week!
